Metro53 - VEHARI (Web Desk): A 13-year-old boy was electrocuted after coming into contact with an exposed electricity wire hanging from a transformer in Vehari, according to local residents.

The victim, identified as Muhammad Usman, son of Muhammad Rafiq Khokhar, was reportedly returning home after attending Quran class at a nearby mosque when he came into contact with the dangling wire. He died at the scene.

The incident sparked anger among residents, who staged a protest against the power authorities and raised concerns over what they described as negligence in maintaining electrical infrastructure.

According to the protesters, they had repeatedly informed the relevant authorities, both verbally and in writing, about the dangerous wires hanging from the transformer. They alleged that no effective action was taken to address the hazard.

The incident has left the victim’s family and the local community deeply distressed.

The family and residents have appealed to the Punjab chief minister and senior officials to investigate the incident, determine responsibility and take legal action against those found responsible.

They also warned that the protest could be expanded if immediate action is not taken.
