Metro53 - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the appointment of Field Marshal Asim Munir as the Chief of Defence Forces. He has also approved a two-year extension in the tenure of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu.
After approving the summary for the appointment of the Chief of Defence Forces, the Prime Minister has forwarded it to the Presidency.
Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has sent to the Presidency the summary approving the appointment of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as both the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Defence Forces.
According to the summary approved by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir will serve simultaneously as the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Defence Forces, and this appointment will be for five years.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir will be the country’s first Chief of Defence Forces.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also approved a two-year extension in the tenure of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu, which will come into effect after the completion of his current five-year term in March 2026.
